EaseCert provides EU Authorised Representative (EAR) services for manufacturers established outside the European Union placing CE-marked products on the EU market.

As your officially appointed EU Authorised Representative, EaseCert serves as your regulatory point of contact within the European Union, helping you meet the obligations established under applicable EU product legislation. We support manufacturers across a wide range of consumer, commercial, professional, and industrial sectors.

The EU Authorised Representative (EAR) Process in Five Steps

  1. Submit Your Product and Company Details

Send your manufacturer information, product details, model numbers, technical specifications, product photos, label artwork, packaging artwork, user manuals, bill of materials, pre-existing test reports, certificates, technical documentation, and EU Declarations of Conformity. We verify completeness, pinpoint any gaps, and organize the dossier so your documentation is clear, consistent, and ready for review.

  2. Scope Review and Compliance Roadmap

We review your product portfolio, applicable CE marking legislation, product families, model structure, intended EU distribution model, and available compliance documentation. We confirm whether the EU Authorised Representative (EAR) service is suitable for your products and define scope, timing, pricing, and any required add-on compliance support.

  3. Documentation, Labelling, Traceability, and Appointment

We review your EU Declaration of Conformity, CE compliance documentation, technical file availability, product labelling, traceability details, manufacturer information, and authorised representative marking requirements. Once the documentation review is complete, EaseCert is officially appointed as your EU Authorised Representative with our EU address in Germany for regulatory purposes.

  4. EU Market Access and Platform Support

We support your EU market access by providing the authorised representative details required for product labels, documentation, customs checks, importer questions, and marketplace reviews. For consumer products, we can also support related requirements such as Amazon EU compliance, GPSR Responsible Person obligations, labelling, and complete compliance documents.

  5. Ongoing Regulatory Support

EaseCert acts as your EU-based regulatory point of contact for relevant market authority inquiries, documentation requests, traceability checks, and regulatory communication related to the appointed EU Authorised Representative role.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an EU Authorised Representative (EAR)?

An EU Authorised Representative (EAR) is a legal entity established within the European Union that has been formally appointed by a manufacturer located outside the EU to carry out specific obligations under applicable EU product legislation. Depending on the legislation, the Authorised Representative serves as the manufacturer's regulatory contact within the EU and cooperates with market surveillance authorities.

Who needs an EU Authorised Representative?

Manufacturers established outside the European Union may be required to appoint an EU Authorised Representative before placing certain CE-marked products on the EU market. The requirement depends on the applicable EU legislation governing the product.

Is an EU Authorised Representative required for all CE-marked products?

No. The requirement varies depending on the applicable directive or regulation. Some product legislation requires the appointment of an EU Authorised Representative, while other legislation allows manufacturers to appoint one voluntarily. We can advise whether your products require this service.

Which products are covered by this service?

Our service supports a wide range of CE-marked products, including machinery, consumer electronics, electrical equipment, radio devices, toys, PPE, measuring instruments, pressure equipment, gas appliances, construction products, battery-powered products, laboratory equipment, and many other products subject to EU CE marking legislation.

What documents do I need to provide?

Typically, we require your company information, product details, product labels, packaging artwork, user manuals, EU Declaration of Conformity, available test reports, certificates, and technical documentation relevant to the applicable legislation.

Do you review my CE documentation?

Yes. We review your available compliance documentation to verify that the required documents are present and suitable for the Authorised Representative appointment. We may identify missing documents or compliance gaps that should be addressed before your products enter the EU market.

Do you create the technical file or CE documentation?

No. The manufacturer remains responsible for preparing and maintaining the technical documentation, carrying out the conformity assessment procedure, and ensuring compliance with all applicable EU legislation. EaseCert can review existing documentation and provide compliance guidance as a separate service.

Can EaseCert issue CE certificates?

No. An EU Authorised Representative is not a certification body or Notified Body. EaseCert does not issue CE certificates or perform conformity assessments required by EU legislation.

Will my products receive a CE mark through this service?

No. The CE marking is applied by the manufacturer after completing the applicable conformity assessment procedure. Appointing an EU Authorised Representative does not replace the manufacturer's legal responsibilities.

Can you also act as our GPSR Responsible Person?

Yes. For consumer products subject to the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), EaseCert also provides GPSR Responsible Person services where applicable. Many manufacturers choose both services to simplify their EU compliance.

Can you help with Amazon, eBay, Etsy, or other marketplaces?

Yes. We support manufacturers selling through major online marketplaces by providing the required Authorised Representative information and assisting with compliance documentation where applicable.

How long does onboarding take?

In most cases, onboarding is completed within 3 to 5 business days after we receive all required documentation and signed agreements.

Can you communicate with EU authorities on our behalf?

Yes. Where permitted under the applicable legislation and our appointment, EaseCert serves as your regulatory contact and cooperates with EU market surveillance authorities regarding the products covered by the appointment.

Do you offer additional compliance services?

Yes. In addition to EU Authorised Representative services, we offer GPSR certification, GPSR Responsible Person services, technical documentation review, product label review, EU Safety Gate registration support, Packaging EPR registration, German LUCID registration, German WEEE registration, and regulatory compliance consulting.
