Etsy’s April 2025 GPSR Compliance Update: What Sellers Need to Do Now
The EU’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is now fully in effect, and Etsy has rolled out new features this April to help sellers align with the updated legal requirements. If you’re an Etsy seller targeting buyers in the EU or Northern Ireland, you must understand and act on these updates to avoid listing disruptions or legal risks.
At EaseCert, we specialize in helping small businesses and online sellers stay compliant with EU safety regulations, especially when it comes to GPSR and acting as your designated EU Responsible Person. Here’s a breakdown of Etsy’s latest GPSR-related changes and what they mean for your shop.
What’s New on Etsy (as of April 2025)
Etsy has added a dedicated product safety section in the listing process. It’s now live across both desktop and mobile browsers. This section is designed to support the GPSR’s traceability and Responsible Person requirements.
Sellers are now required to add:
1. Manufacturer Information
You must provide:
- Manufacturer’s name
- Manufacturer’s email
- Manufacturer’s full postal address
This refers to any individual or business that manufactures the product or has it manufactured under their name or trademark.
2. EU-Based Responsible Person Details
If the manufacturer is based outside the EU/EEA (including UK for GPSR purposes), you are legally required to appoint an EU-based Responsible Person. In the new Etsy listing field, add:
- Responsible Person’s name
- Responsible Person’s email address
- Responsible Person’s full EU mailing address
Etsy currently allows sellers to input this information either:
- At the shop level (applying the Responsible Person to all listings), or
-
Individually per listing, if you sell different types of products with different compliance partners
Why This Matters
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR), every product sold to EU consumers must have an EU-based contact responsible for regulatory compliance. Etsy’s new tools don’t eliminate your responsibility—they make it easier for you to provide proof that your product complies with safety laws.
Non-EU sellers must now take concrete steps to:
- Identify a valid EU Responsible Person
- Maintain technical documentation (e.g. Declaration of Conformity, risk assessments, labeling compliance)
- Ensure traceability of their product throughout the supply chain
