GPSR Compliance for Etsy Sellers: What You Need to Know
If you sell on Etsy and ship to the EU or Northern Ireland, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) applies to you. As of April 2025, Etsy has made important platform updates to help sellers meet these new legal requirements. But to stay compliant and avoid disruptions, you’ll need to act.
What Is GPSR?
GPSR (Regulation (EU) 2023/988) is the new EU safety regulation for non-food consumer products. It mandates that every product sold in the EU must:
- Be safe for its intended use
- Be traceable to its manufacturer or importer
- Have an EU-based Responsible Person (RP) if the manufacturer is outside the EU
- Be supported by compliance documentation, including a Declaration of Conformity and risk analysis
April 2025: Etsy’s New GPSR Compliance Fields
To align with GPSR, Etsy has introduced new fields in the listing process, now available on both web and mobile:
1. Manufacturer Information
You must now enter:
- Manufacturer’s name
- Email address
- Mailing address
2. EU Responsible Person (RP) Information
If your product is made outside the EU/EEA, you must appoint a Responsible Person based in the EU. Etsy requires you to provide:
- RP’s name
- RP’s email
- RP’s EU mailing address
You can enter this either per listing or apply the same information shop-wide. Missing or incomplete Responsible Person details may result in Etsy removing your listings or suspending your shop from EU sales.
